Children are invited to explore, develop, and hone a wide array of art skills both in the studio and outdoors in our beautiful fields and trails.

Afternoon Art Studio
  • Instructor: ArtisTree Staff
  • Afternoon art studios will offer campers different art experiences each day of the week.
  • On Mondays, children are invited to explore, develop, and hone a wide array of art skills both in the studio and outdoors in our beautiful fields and trails.
  • On Tuesdays, enjoy an afternoon of experimentation and fun in the clay studio. All work is fired for the opportunity to develop color, brushwork, and glazing skills.
  • On Wednesdays, yarns, threads, fabrics and roving come to life as campers learn how to stitch, felt and weave to create landscapes, creatures and even household items.
  • On Thursdays, campers will have the opportunity to explore a variety of different mediums such as pencil, pastel, fiber arts, beading and collage.
  • An additional cost of $40 will be charged for these classes.

Hand Building in Clay
  • Fiona Davis, Ceramics Director
  • This camp introduces and develops the three basic ceramics hand building techniques.
  • You will create work using all three skills in construction. Decorating options will be demonstrated and encouraged, along with glazing, to complete your pieces.
  • In addition to building personal work, each camper will be encouraged to contribute to a large-scale ceramics installation designed to fit permanently in ArtisTree’s new Teago Theater on Stage Road in South Pomfret.
  • Help create this exciting project and later visit the theater to see the completed work!
  • An additional cost of $40 will be charged for these classes.

Art and Mindfulness for Teens
  • Discover the arts as a mindfulness tool for self-discovery and inquiry.
  • All activities will be aimed at increasing mindfulness, which is an awareness that arises through paying attention, on purpose and without judgment, to the present moment.
  • Mindfulness practice can improve concentration and reduce anxiety and stress.
  • In addition to more traditional mindfulness practices, such as guided imagery and meditation, we will engage in activities such as sculpture, painting, writing and outdoor exploration.
  • All materials, including meditation cushions, yoga mats, and art and writing supplies, are provided. Each camper should bring a bottle of water labeled with his or her name
  • No prior meditation or art experience is required.
  • An additional cost of $40 will be charged for these classes.
